FAQs
How often does the City Council meet?
City Council meetings occur on the first and third Tuesday of every month.
When can community members talk to the counil during a council meeting?
Community members are encouraged to come to the podium to speak during the Public Comment period, which occurs near the end of every council session. Public Comment is limited to three (3) minutes per person, to ensure everyone has time to speak. Council members are not able to create discourse during Public Comment; this time is dedicated to community members having time to speak.
How can I learn more about the different council members and their ward, policies, and politics?
Council Members often have facebook pages dedicated to their official role on the City Council, where they will post information specific to their Ward and community members. Following a council member on social media is an excellent way to stay up-to-date with council members and learn what is going on in their Ward.
Please be respectful when commenting on Council Members social media; they are volunteers from the community who often work other jobs and oversee their public-facing social media personally, and cruel, defamatory, or aggressive language may not solicit a response or facilitate a productive conversation.
