<h2>What is Participatory Budgeting?</h2><p>Participatory Budgeting is a process where community members directly decide how to use a portion of a public budget. This process was first developed in Brazil in 1989 and is now in use all over the globe. In our case, residents of each of the 5 wards in Eureka will come together to determine how to use a portion of the $75,000 budget to benefit the community.</p><h2>How do I get involved?</h2><p><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.eurekaca.gov/FormCenter/Administration-7/Participatory-Budgeting-Interest-Form-81" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Complete the online form on the City of Eureka website">Any resident of the City of Eureka can sign up as a Participant or apply to be a Ward Delegate or Alternate Delegate.</a></p><ul><li>Delegates and Alternate Delegates will help to organize meetings their wards, help to turn project ideas into full proposals with support of staff, and will present their projects to Council. Delegates and Alternate Delegates will be required to attend a training session.</li><li>Delegate and Alternate Delegate applications will be accepted through <strong>Friday, March 29th</strong>.</li><li>Participants are vital to the process of participatory budgeting.
